Join us at a Tradition Irish Seisiun every Friday Night and Traditional Irish Seisiun lead by Sean Kane every Saturday Night. Pub Open 7 pm - 11:30pm Featured a Traditional Irish Seisiun by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann The word seisiun is the Irish for session and in Ireland is synonymous with the gathering of singers and musicians to sing and play songs and music. In the past, these sessions often took place in the home around the fire where songs were handed down in the oral tradition from one generation to another. Very often there would be three generations gathered together and the children learned songs and tunes from the parents and grandparents. Image of the new Irish Thatched Cottage, August 2005 Newest Addition to the Irish Cultural Centre At the Irish Connections Festival in June thousands of visitors got to see the ICCNEs newly built Irish Thatched Cottage, now on permanent display near the entrance to the campus. The 20 x 40 foot cottage was built by ICCNE members, and the thatched roof was installed by master thatcher Colin McGhee and his crew, who came up from Virginia in late May to do the work. Brendan Morrisroe, co-chair of the 2005 Festival and an architect, noted that the thatched, whitewashed, stone cottage with a half door and windows was typical of the cottages popular in rural West of Ireland in the 1880s. Securing the materials used to build the root took on an international dimension. The water reeds used had to be purchased in Romania, shipped to Holland, and then transported to Virginia, where they were then taken by...

The ICCNE Drama Group has been meeting regularly and presenting plays and dramatic literature by Irish writers since July, 2001. The group was first formed at the ICCNE by Paddy and Marie Curley to present and promote drama to the members of the Irish Cultural Centre and the surrounding community.

Since it's inception over four years ago, we have presented a number of productions for a wide variety of audiences. The group has grown to 15+ and all have tremendous fun rehearsing and performing our shows.

Participants welcome

Anybody with an interest in any facet of a production is welcome, be it acting, backstage, make-up, costumes, set design and construction.

Frequently Asked Questions How did the ICCNE Library and Museum Committee come about? Whos idea was it, when was it formed? Based on the original mission of the Irish Cultural Centre of New England, a library was to be a key element when the buildings were complete. An August 1999 Board of Directors meeting passed a motion that the then boardroom be converted into a library and music room. Describe its objective. Our objective is to show members and non-members alike that we are a Cultural Centre in the truest sense and now offer yet another reason to visit the ICCNE. There are a wide range of books and material that may be read in the library, many of which may be borrowed. PRESS RELEASE (October 16, 2006 ICCNE HOSTS IRELAND’S GAELIC GAMES CHAMPIONSHIPS (Click here for schedule) (Canton) For the second straight year, Ireland’s top football and hurling teams are coming to Boston on October 21-22, 2006 for a series of matches featuring championship teams from Ireland as well as from Boston and New York City. The matches take place at the Irish Cultural Centre of New England in Canton, Massachusetts, ten miles out side of Boston. Irish football, described as a combination of soccer, rugby and American football, is a physical game with non-stop action, fifteen players per side. Hurling, described as a mixture of hockey and lacrosse, is considered one of the fastest sports in the world, and also one of the oldest at over 2,000 years.
