Pub Open 7 pm - 11:30pm    Featured a Traditional Irish Seisiun by   Comhaltas Ceolt&#243;ir&#237; &#201;ireann                                                The word seisiun is the Irish for session and in Ireland is synonymous with the gathering of singers and musicians to sing and play songs and music.        In the past, these sessions often took place in the home around the fire where songs were handed down in the oral tradition from one generation to another. Very often there would be three generations gathered together and the children learned songs and tunes from the parents and grandparents. 			<description>                                                       Image of the new Irish Thatched Cottage, August 2005         Newest Addition to the Irish Cultural Centre                          At the Irish Connections Festival in June thousands of visitors got to see the ICCNEs newly built Irish Thatched Cottage, now on permanent display near the entrance to the campus.  The 20 x 40 foot cottage was built by ICCNE members, and the thatched roof was installed by master thatcher Colin McGhee and his crew, who came up from Virginia in late May to do the work.  Brendan Morrisroe, co-chair of the 2005 Festival and an architect, noted that the thatched, whitewashed, stone cottage with a half door and windows was typical of the cottages popular in rural West of Ireland in the 1880s.  Securing the materials used to build the root took on an international dimension.
